Facebook Vs Google Plus/Google+1

Hi All,

In continuation with my previous post I wish to add something more about Google+.Google plus is a little modified idea of facebook with likes as well as emerging twitter with followers.

Facebook Inc made us all think that we have entered Information age, that world is moving at very fast pace and now when Google Launched Google+ on 28th June 2011 we surely are facing a revolution in information Technology.

Friends if we see history we can see the speed at which information technology is changing for ex: Radio took 38 years to have 50 million Users, TV took 13 years, Internet took 4 years, Ipod 3years for 50 million and Facebook took just 9 months for 100 million Users which is currently having more that 750 million active users.

Then came lots and lots of Social medias which reduced the information spread time. Blogger, Twitter and Facebook changed the way businesses operate.90% of all businesses have their presence in Social Media. All businesses today have a dedicated and active page in Facebook.

But the growth rate of Google+ shows that it has become the fastest growing social network in the world.Google+ had crossed 18 million user mark by adding nearly 763,000 new users per day and if it continue this trend, then it will take nearly four or five months to reach 100 million users.

Now the real question is Facebook or Goole Plus which is better? Here is the comparison

Even Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has joined Google+, although his profile page has just one update: a change to his profile picture. Larry Page also has a single public post.

Whether you came here to disagree, agree or learn more, i want to know what you think.Post your comments.

Finally on Google+!!

At this point, most of you must already heard of  The Google+ Project and probably getting started with your account . But for some who are living under a rock, Google+ is the newest social networking platform that is believed to kill Facebook. As of this time of writing, it is currently under limited field trial and you can only get in if someone invites you to join their network via email.

Since its launching four weeks ago, Google+ has generated SO MUCH demand, with Google’s social head Vic Gundotra even calling it “insane.

I gotta be honest, I also wanted to get an invite since day 1 so bad that I keep checking my self if someone can send me one. Finally i got it from my friend.

When i get started it didn't look very user friendly at first but then I got the hang of it and after that, it was a journey of no return from here. I have to say Google Plus totally rocks! Awesome! Awesome!

When we compare with facebook,
socializing was better than Facebook. The problem with Facebook is the one that is created by Facebook itself. Its trying to be much more than a social network. Its getting converted to a gaming and application platform that is clouding its networking values. But Google Plus doesn’t have that problem, at least for now.But the rumor is that Google will be adding social gaming support to Google Plus soon.

The privacy feature of Google Plus is most impressive!
One Ring (Circle) can rule them all! Now I can add my family members without offending anyone.I can post stuff that I want to whatever circle that I prefer.I have close friend circle that I can share all things about my life and they won't mind.Inorder to pay forward, I have also send out invites to my good friends who want them and this make feel good because this is what social networking is about!

Okay fine, I know you are here for the invite. Please share this to your Facebook/Twitter then hit the comments below and leave your gmail address + your Facebook/Twitter profile link. Just don’t forget to return the favor and add me to your circle okay?

Enjoy with circles.Click here to add me on Google+

Finding Purpose of Life

I have been left unanswed for a question in my life for a long time. You would have guessed the question and it is – ‘What is my bigger purpose of my life’. Though I am not able to find one for me but got some experience and pointers and I am hopeful to find my answer very soon. Well in the search for the answer, I came across a few points which can help anyone in finding purpose of life (given that they are looking for the answer!!)

Before I continue, one disclaimer – This blog is based on my experience and it might turn that a few or all points are irrelevant to a few or all. In this case a gentle request – please let me know any other points which can be helpful to find bigger purpose of my life.

Coming back to the topic, below are my pointers:

1) Always listen to your heart – Apart from finding answer to most complex problem of life, it helps in keeping young. Also, one would never have any regret, even 20 years down the life, of making a wrong decision at any point of time. Further this is highly useful when there is a conflict between mind and heart. Mind is always rational, thinks of material comfort and is always selfish but heart is pure, irrational but honest (this is the reason we like a smile on 3 year kid face – its selfless). In fact as rightly said by Blaise Pascal – “the heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing”.

2) Follow the omens – This is taken from Paulo Coehlo ‘The Alchemist’. I really believe in this. But the only question remains is how to find an omen and the answer is just see around yourself, see in everything you are doing is there anything related to something you like or you are struck with. In such a case even a small pointer becomes omen….and remember about beginners luck as told by Coehlo.

3) Believe in your dreams - Whether the dreams are when you are sleeping or awake – just believe in them. Nothing is impossible and half the work is done when you know what needs to be done. Even if dreams are unrealistic just believe in yourself and Almighty (in whatsoever form!!)

4) Explore the hobby you love doing most - There is some hidden message in anything you like. It can be as vague as singing song or lending a helping hand to anyone. If you don’t have any hobby which you love – try other hobbies. Range of hobbies can vary from  gardening, sketching, writing poetries, doing social work, reading novels,…literally anything!! But try each hobby with your best attempt and even if you do not find best hobby…you have learned multiple skills to spend your free time in ‘something different’.

5) Don’t hold to anything - Well this is the mistake I have done many times. Something which has happened in past is past but we are not willing to accept it. We carry old memories and sometimes get lost in them. Letting go off is very important and it also allows us to feel the beauty of new things coming our way. But remember one thing – don’t bury the past in hatred…it was your relation, your time everything was your so don’t blame other person or circumstances for anything that has happened to you. Accept the reality and never have any negative views as it stops the positive aura or things you should be open to!!

6) Believe in forgiveness - This is continuity of the above point. If you can forgive and forget…that’s all. In this case no hatred, no negative comments, no burden and whatsmore you are not cursing anyone when they are not there!!

7) Talk to near and dear ones – They are those who knows your strengths and weakness, can really give constructive feedback but only thing you need to do is to talk with them – communicate honestly in trustworthy enviornment. Don’t be rigid and willing to follow suggestions otherwise no one will worry about you next time and in case you do not like any suggestion even after trying one – try another!! Keep trying and keep changing.

8) It’s now or never - Anything you are supposed to do….definitely do it – don’t delay it for any reason.May be its a small thing like saying a sorry to your friend or telling your true feelings to someone special. Because at times we might regret of not doing something because we keep on delaying it and then one day there was no reason for doing it or it was too late to do that thing.

9) Always belief that there is a bigger reason for your existence – This is one of the most important thing. Keep in mind that you are not there ‘just’ to be a good son, student, employee, friend, relative,…..but something beyond that. Just imagine that there are 6 billion people on this planet and if everyone ‘just’ wants to be satisfied with what they have, what presently they are doing and focusing their responsibilities on a few one – there cannot be any great social change!! There needs to be someone who can think above the social clutters and this can be anyone – even YOU :)

So that’s all from my side…in case of any comment, do share it....

Beware of Google+ security threats

The social media site is fast becoming a hunting ground for cybercriminals.

With over three million Indian users on Google+, the site is fast becoming the new rage with the social networking crowd. However, Beware! Security solutions provider, Kaspersky Lab has warned Internet users of targeted attacks on the social networking site.

Even Experian data suggest that social media in India reaches out to 60 per cent of the online Indian audience and with Google+ still in its beta phase it is fast becoming a hunting ground for cybercriminals.

Fabio Assolini, malware researcher, Global Research and Analysis Team at Kaspersky Lab says: “Kaspersky Labs have identified Brazilian cybercriminals who have already started sending fake invites (to open Goggle+ accounts) with malicious links pointing to malware, specifically Trojan bankers."

The fake invites contain infected links that redirect the user to a very common Brazilian Trojan banker file hosted at Dropbox (file sharing site). The most interesting thing to note in this message, however, is another link pointing to a form hosted at Google Docs, a free online Office suite.

The message shows the link as “send the invitation to your friends” but it is actually a fake form created to collect names and e-mail addresses of new victims. Kaspersky Lab has reported this malicious file and the fake web form to Google.

Within weeks of the launch, Google+ has reached about 20 million users, according to ComScore data. While Google+, say company executives, is still being tested with a closed group of users, some of its built-in features like Circles (where user segregates friends and followers) have serious privacy flaws.

“One of the main features of Google+ is Circles, the possibility to easily share the right content with the right people. However, once the content has been shared to a Circle, anyone can share it by default to other Circles. It boils down to the fact that the tagging feature can be bypassed by using the reshare option," says George Lucian Petre of security software provider BitDefender.

“Let’s say user “A” shares a picture only with their “Close Friends” circle, and disables resharing. All it takes is for someone from that “Close friend” circle to tag a person from outside this circle in the picture. Once this has been done, that person can share the picture with anyone, in any way."

The introduction of new social networking sites creates a haven for cybercriminals. Symantec observed that while the attacks on Facebook declined in the last two months, there was a rise in attacks on Twitter that gradually waned out, followed by a surge of attacks on YouTube. “The average life span of each social network spam attack is between 15 and 20 days," say experts at Symantec.

Facebook has been a favourite for spammers. The newest security scare on Facebook centers on a fake application called “Google+ Direct Access”. It prompts users to visit a page on the site that they need to “like” in order to see. When they do that, they are handing over personal information to unknown developers of the dodgy app. Users are then offered a fake invitation to try out Google+ — a way to spam their friends with invites to try out the app.

According to the BitDefender team, 23 per cent of Facebook users have had a friend who has been infected with some type of social spam. The sentiments are echoed by internet security firm, Sophos. “You should also exercise great caution about what third-party apps you allow to access your Facebook records, especially when they are demanding the ability to post to your wall and grab personal information," says Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos.

Kaspersky’s Assolini advises that those interested in joining Google+ should explores the social media site on a secure computer for the first time, while being cautious at all times of pop-up blocks and links that insist you to re-direct to a new page. Kaspersky Lab also urges users to not believe in “official-looking” invites received via e-mails.

The worrying news is the rising use of social networks from unsecured mobile devices. Security firm Symantec has observed a 43 per cent increase in mobile vulnerabilities in 2010, according to the latest Internet Security Threat Report.

Witty Corporate Lessons

I just want to share this very witty corporate lessons every employees/employers/businesspeople should know..

READ ALONG..

Corporate Lesson 1

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel." After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?" "It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies. "Great!" the husband says, "Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"

Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Corporate Lesson 2

A priest offered a lift to a Nun. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest apologized, "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak." Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."

Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Corporate Lesson 3

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish." "Me first! Me first!" says the admin. clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Poof! She's gone. "Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas, and the love of my life." Poof! He's gone. "OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

Corporate Lesson 4

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A rabbit asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?" The crow answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.

Corporate Lesson 5

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, but I haven't got the energy." "Well, why don't you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.
