Farewell to FRINGE

Four years ago, I watched an airplane full of people die horrifically when a terrorist released a
toxin into the cabin that caused flesh to disintegrate. Since then, an ad-hoc team - a stoic FBI
agent, a wounded scientific genius, and his brooding, polymath son has investigated similar
events through multiple universes and timelines, not to mention untold shootouts and other mortal crises. Tonight, they will determine the fate of our species in its battle with time-traveling
invaders in 2036 by attempting to transport a genetically engineered child to a historically
important moment in February 2167. And whether Olivia Dunham, Walter Bishop, Peter Bishop and their allies succeed or fail in saving the future, I and many others will miss them terribly.

I have mixed feelings about the end of Fringe. It has been my favourite show for the last four years. And like other fans of Fringe I’ve been on the edge of my seat for the last two years as at the end of each season there were always rumours that the show faced cancellation. But each year it came back by the skin of its teeth. It even survived the Friday night death slot, sort of.

Olivia and Fauxliva(Olivia from alternate universe)

As I’ve said; I’m going to miss Fringe. I don’t want it to end, but I also can’t wait to find out how it ends. I am eager to see the end of this amazing show, who’s with me? Who’s going to stay up and watch the end of one of the best sci-fi shows we’ll ever have?

JACK REACHER - Well worth a Shot

"You think I'm a hero? I am not a hero. I am in your blindspot and I ain't got nothing to lose. And if you're smart, that scares you" - Jack Reacher

Plot : Five people are killed mysteriously by a lone sniper.A soldier from the US army is the prime suspect with flagrant and overwhelming evidence found against him in the form of fingerprints, parking ticket and the like.On interrogation the soldier replies with three simple words-'Call Jack Reacher'.But Reacher(Tom Cruise),an ex soldier from the army himself has long since disappeared from the scene and little is known about his whereabouts.Oddly enough,Reacher shows up stylishly out of the blue at the investigators' doorstep. An attorney(Rosamund Pike),fights to defend the accused from the death row.Together the two team up to uncover the truth in a case where everything is so obvious it seems wrong and discover that there's something amiss.

There are many things I like about Jack Reacher. The pace of the movie especially the first half is exhilarating and the plot intriguing. The writing is great with some crisp dialogues and witty one liners.Tom Cruise is convincing in his role as the enigmatic and charismatic Jack Reacher. Reacher's
one liners, replies, that 'hat' sequence (which most had seen in trailer only) and the final action sequence was promising best in this ride. Rosamund Pike exhibits great acting. The BG score of the movie matches the genre and keeps you interested.

It's always nice to see Tom Cruise appear in an action movie. While he's no Clint Eastwood or Charles Bronson, his performance alone makes this worth watching.
The action scenes were very well performed, specially the final scene in rain. It's refreshing to see that he and lawyer Helen have nothing more than a professional relationship, something that's not in the movies too often (or maybe I have a bad memory). Also, the character of Sandy is nonessential to the movie.

My Rating :
9/10

Warning:
This is not your typical Tom Cruise film. If you were expecting an action ride with impossible stunts ala Mission Impossible then you will be mistaken. But I guarantee, you will not be disappointed there is plenty of action in this film. It is just more of a detective story than any other Tom Cruise film.

Quotes I Love :

James Barr: "There's this guy. He's a kind of cop, at least he used to be. He doesn't care about proof, he doesn't care about the law, he only cares about what's right. He knows what I did. You can't protect me. No one can."

Jack Reacher: "Helen?"Thug: "No"
Jack Reacher: "Helen, are you hurt?"

Thug: "Do I have to tell you how this works?"

Jack Reacher: "Do you think I'm a hero? I am not a hero. The lawyer's all yours." [Hangs up but
calls right back] "On second thought, I'd like to kill you."

Jeb Oliver: "Hey, outside"
Jack Reacher: "Pay your check first."

Jeb Oliver: "I'll pay it later."

Jack Reacher: "You won't be able to… This is your last chance to walk away."

Jeb Oliver: "It's five against one."

Jack Reacher: "It's three against one."

Jeb Oliver: "How do you figure?"

Jack Reacher: "Once I take out the leader, which is you, I'll have to contens with one or two
enthusiastic wingmen, the last two guys, they always run. Remember, you wanted this."

Jack Reacher: "Does Sandy work here?"
Store Clerk: "What are you, a cop? I'm going to need to see some ID."

Jack Reacher: "Go get Sandy."

Store Clerk: "Well I need to see something."

Jack Reacher: "How about the inside of an ambulance?"

Emerson: "Jack Reacher is a ghost, ex-military, Iraq, Afghanistan, you name it, silver star and a purple heart, served in the military police, a by all accounts brilliant investigator, troublemaker too. Then two years ago he disappears. You don't find this guy unless he wants to be found."
