Valentine’s Day is one of the most loved and hated days on the calendar. Its up to you to decide which emotion you let rule on Feb 14th. Life is too short to be waiting for a person and at the same time don’t miss out on an opportunity to celebrate love. Don't feel bitter or angry about being single on any day whether it’s Valentine’s Day or Mon-Day or Tues-Day or any day. Too many Valentine’s Days have already passed without people like me acknowledging the loves in my life. Most of the times our world has too much hate and conflict to miss a chance to have a day filled with love for yourself and others. Nothing should prevent you from appreciating and sharing time with the ones you love.
I always say “I don’t want a relationship and I’m waiting for the right one”, but at times I find myself pushing people away for someone who may never come; instead of loving who’s here right now. I aggressively guard my heart in wait for someone who will never knock on my door. The problem is not guarding my heart, but locking it. The problem is shutting people out who needs the same love. In reality and in real LOVE (God) we are here to share that love with everyone not just one specific person. I’m learning slowly but surely, and God is still molding me. I’m learning that it’s not right to shut people out who can possibly be a blessing to you, and vice versa. And I don’t think that’s only a problem with me, but with a lot of us who fail to admit it. We need to stop looking for love in a one on one relationship when there’s a crowd of amazing people who enters your life eagerly waiting to share that same genuine love with you. Life moves so fast that we fail to recognize the beauty in a friendship and with family that we go outside of that to find love or someone that may never come. I'm shifting the focus of Valentine’s Day from not having the love “of” my life to recognizing the loves “in” my life. What about you..?
